Jengu is a work for solo tenor saxophone composed by Australian saxophonist, Andrew Ball. It is composed as a sequence of cell-based digital patterns with full fingerings provided for common cell structures (utilising a repeating L/R digital pattern). 'Pinky' keys can be held down for entire cells/passages for ease of flow, and other alternate fingerings (e.g for A#) are used to create audible percussion. Throughout the piece, other patterns utilise similar and comparable fingerings, substituting other notes and harmonics as written, but based off of the L/R sequence of the common cells. The entire piece may be circular-breathed, if possible. It is a sparkling work that is sure to impress audiences!

Forbidden Languages is a suite for solo saxophones, comprising a body of work composed and recorded between 2015 - 2017. Each stand-alone ‘movement’ is informed by an arcane aspect of symbolism or mythology, within the broader context of language as an abstract, imaginary, irrational, ephemeral concept. The mission of this work is to push the capabilities of the performer, to blur the line between composition, improvisation and experimentation, to challenge the technical and expressive limits of the instrument, and to inspire further experimentation with the saxophone.
